高中英語語法之tear是否可用復(fù)數(shù)

tear 是可數(shù)名詞還是不可數(shù)名詞?它應(yīng)該用單數(shù)tear還是用復(fù)數(shù)tears?許多英語初學(xué)者認(rèn)為，“眼淚”(tear) 就是“淚水”，而“淚水”(tear) 其實就是一種“水”，所以它應(yīng)該是不可數(shù)的，只能用單數(shù)形式，不應(yīng)該用復(fù)數(shù)形式。其實，錯了!在英語中，tear是一個典型的可數(shù)名詞，而且通常使用復(fù)數(shù)形式。如：

She couldn’t keep back her tears. 她忍不住哭了。

Tears ran down her face. 眼淚順著她的臉流了下來。

The sight affected her to tears. 此情此景使她感動得流淚。

Hearing the news, she broke into tears. 聽到這個消息，她就哭了起來。

其實，tear不僅可用復(fù)數(shù)，而且還可連用不定冠詞，甚至連用數(shù)詞，如說one tear, two tears, three tears, four tears, five tears等。如：

A tear rolled down his cheek. 一滴淚珠沿著他的面頰流下來。

Her head sank down and two great tears fell on his hand. 她低下頭，兩滴大淚珠落到了他手上。

有時還可與a few, some, many等連用，即說 a few tears, some tears, many tears等。如：

How many tears have I cried over you? 我為你流了多少眼淚呀!

I must admit I shed a few tears when the school closed. 我必須承認(rèn)，當(dāng)學(xué)校關(guān)閉的時候，我掉過幾滴淚。
