◆anxious adj.

1. 表示“擔心的”、“焦慮的”，其后通常接介詞 about, for。如：

We’re anxious about [for] her health. 我們擔心她的健康。

He was anxious for his family, who were traveling abroad. 他擔心在國外旅行的家人。

2. 表示“熱切的”、“渴望的”，其后通常接介詞 for。如：

I’m anxious for a computer. 我渴望有臺電腦。

注：be anxious for 既可表示“為……擔心”，也可表示“渴望得到……”，具體含義視語境而定。

3. 表示渴望或想要做某事，其后接不定式。如：

We are anxious to know the result. 我們渴望知道結果。

注：有時不定式前可以有 for sb。如：

He was anxious for her to marry him. 他渴望她能嫁給他。

4. 有時后接 that 從句，此時從句謂語一般都用“should＋動詞原形”這樣的虛擬語氣。如：

He’s anxious that she (should) come to see him. 他很希望她能來看他。

注：上面也可改成：

He is anxious for her to come to see him.
